A car boot sale that proved popular last year is returning to the north Norfolk coast this summer.

Weybourne Community Fund (WCF) will run the event on the first Sunday of every month until the end of September.

The sale, which started this month, takes place on the George Weston Community Field.

The WCF used to run a two-day country fair before the pandemic but since then its committee has lost members.

Karen White-Robinson, secretary, said the charity has "reluctantly" decided they will not be able to put on large events like the fair for the foreseeable future.

"But we would like to keep going so we needed to come up with an easier form of fundraising," she said.

The George Weston Community Field, on the A149 coast road opposite Weybourne windmill, is a 10-acre site that has become a well-used amenity for both villagers and visitors - but to keep it open costs the WCF around £1,500 a year.

"Last year, we held a few car boot sales as a tester for this summer, and they proved popular," Ms White-Robinson said.

"We were averaging about 20 to 25 stalls last year and hope that more stall holders will be attracted now that it has a regular date each month."

As well as the car boot sale, the WCF also puts on two free Christmas events, one for the village children and one for the over-60's, and an annual Easter egg hunt.

They are also planning a big picnic lunch for the coronation weekend.
