Excitement is building ahead of the third annual Scira Viking Festival in Sheringham this weekend.

The festivities, which celebrate the town’s Norse heritage, get underway with a children’s shield and sword making workshop at Oddfellows Hall on Saturday, February 13, at 10.30am.

And it culminates with a parade and burning of the viking ship at West Prom Beach on Sunday, February 14, at 5.30pm.

Other highlights on Sunday include storytelling in the viking village in the Lobster Pub Gardens at 2pm, a slave market in the same venue at 3pm, and a viking battle at Oddfellows Hall in Gun Street at 4pm.

The North Norfolk News is planning a special eight-page pull-out and keep feature to mark the occasion. Order your copy with your local newsagent to ensure you don’t miss out.
