Fans of the classic 1970s BBC sitcom Dad's Army will have a chance to relive some of the side-splitting antics of Captain Mainwaring, Sergeant Wilson and Private Pike next weekend, when the North Norfolk Railway is taken over by the Walmington-on-Sea Home Guard.
Dad's Army Live, which runs at Weybourne Station on Sunday and bank holiday Monday, May 26 and 27, will feature a re-enactment by Thetford Dad's Army Museum volunteers of the famous 'Royal Train' episode filmed at the station in 1973.
Other attractions will include wartime songs from local duo Timescape, Naafi supplies laid on by railway volunteers, and classic vehicles including Jones the butcher's famous van.
The family-friendly event, which regularly attracts up to 2,000 people from all over the country, runs on Sunday and Monday, with the first train leaving Sheringham at 9.55am. For tickets, and more information, phone 01263 820800 or visit www.nnrailway.co.uk
