Fiery, passionate and dramatic are three words often used to describe the style of playing of concert guitarist and lutenist John Cadman.

Regarded by many as one of the country's leading exponents of the instruments, John will give a guitar recital at Blakeney Village Hall on Saturday, 25th October.

The programme will include works by Bach, Villa-Labos and John Cadman himself. Although living in rural Buckinghamshire, where he and his wife Janet also run the Cadman School of Classical Guitar, John and Janet have had a life-long association with Norfolk which they visit frequently and which provides the inspiration for a number of John's own compositions.

John has recently completed his suite of Five Partitas For Guitar and Seven Fantasias on Traditional Themes written in and inspired by the Norfolk countryside and seascape.

For example, one of his Partitas is inspired by the ancient earthworks of Warham Camp, the Iron Age Fort from the Iceni period, between Wighton and Warham. This, and other Cadman works feature the related musical genres of folk, blues, jazz, rock and flamenco.

Says John, “Norfolk has always been my favourite place to visit and compose and I am very much looking forward to performing in the County - it will be a very special concert for me”.

The concert is in Blakeney Village Hall, on Saturday 25th October, at 7.30pm. Tickets are priced £10.00, concessions £6.00 and under 16's £3.00 including interval cheese, wine and cake. Tickets are available on the door or reserve on 01362 693277.
