Local and international comedians will put smiles on faces at a stand-up night organised by North Walsham Hospital's friends group.

Hal Cruttenden, known from television's Mock The Week and Have I Got News for You will be the headline act. Also in the line-up are Phileo Huff from Atlanta, Nelson Gombakomba from Norwich and North Walsham's own Josh Ryan, who writes and performs the New Comedy Show on BBC Radios Norfolk and Suffolk.

The Saturday, June 8 event is part of former mayor Barry Hester's fundraising for the friends group, as it was the official charity for his term in office.

Mr Hester said: "The comedy night was a great idea put to me at a civic dinner and although my year as mayor will be over by the show, it will be icing on the cake for my chosen charity appeal, which currently stands at £3,800."

Friends chairman Keith Jarvis said: "They say laughter is the best medicine, and this night will provide some smiles for the audience - and pay for some 'extras' at the hospital which the Friends provide to benefit patients, families and staff."

The show is at The Atrium, with doors open at 7.30pm and comedy from 8pm to 10.30pm. Tickets are £10 (£8 concessions) in advance at www.fatsoma.com/norwichcomedy or £12/10 on the door.
