Hundreds of people are expected to flock to Cromer for the town's annual soapbox derby.

The Sunday, August 11 event will see the A149 Runton Road to Morrisons petrol station on Beach Road transformed into a highway for thrills and spills, with a chicane and a jump to feature on the course.

Registrations for entries have already closed, and the racing will begin at 1pm following scrutineering of the vehicles at 11.30am.

There will be classes for 10 to 15 years, 16 to 18 years and 18 and over.

'Concourse de Elegance' prizes and fastest driver awards will be given out in each class.

Organisers are hoping for a bumper turn-out for this year's derby, which marks the 50th anniversary of Cromer Carnival.

This year's event is supported by last year's sponsors GTK 'A Volex Company', based in Basingstoke, Hampshire and Westcotec Traffic Safety Systems, based in Dereham.
