ASCOT? Huh! No ladies - if you want to show off your millinery masterpieces this summer, the only place to be is 74 Cromer Road, North Walsham. The town's ladies' circle members are staging a Mad Hatter's Tea Party there this Saturday from 2pm to 5pm, and everyone is cordially invited to attend. Those with a head for it are urged to turn up in their battiest hats for a mad hat competition to be judged by local hat-hire businesswoman Eileen Murphy.
Everyone else is invited to come along too and admire the spectacle, tuck into tea and homemade cakes and try their hands at a game of croquet, a
trivia quiz and a tea-tasting competition.
The afternoon will also feature a tea-themed tombola with prizes donated by local businesses.Profits from the event will go to Norfolk and Waveney's cancer charity, the Big C. Jenny Harmer, ladies' circle chairman, said: “Virtually everybody I know has been affected by cancer - either friends, family, or personally.
“This is a cause so worthy of your support and the money raised will be used locally to help sufferers and their families.
“Please come and have a fun afternoon and raise money for a good cause as well.”
