PAINTINGS, drawings and collage work produced by members of the Voyager Art Group can be seen at an exhibition in North Walsham's Griffon Gallery until April 15.

The group meets on Mondays from 2pm to 4pm in the town's Saddler's Shop and is open to all ages and abilities.

Sessions are led by Fiona Muller, who has qualifications in art forms including textile design, silversmithing and photography.

Members can develop their own ideas or work on subjects suggested by Fiona. Topics have included batik and Chinese painting and Fiona says the main aims are to encourage self expression and to do something relaxing with others.

At present group numbers vary from seven to 15 and new members are always welcome. Sessions cost 2. There is always a tea and cake break and in May members are planning an outing to Wells.

The last time Pat Wilson had picked up a paintbrush before joining the Voyager group was over 10 years ago when her son was small.

'I enjoy it - the two hours fly by. It's a nice little group and we get inspired by each other,' she said. David Futter said he found the group relaxing and rewarding. He added: 'As the weeks go past you get better and better. I thought I had no skill whatsoever!'

The gallery is at 32 Vicarage Street and is open from 10am to 2pm.
