Keen cooks will have the chance to pick up tips from one of Britain's top chefs in May, when Aiden Byrne, the youngest chef ever to win a Michelin star, puts in an appearance at a north Norfolk cookery school.

Mr Byrne, former head chef at London's Dorchester Hotel and former head chef at Adlard's Restaurant in Norwich, will be teaching recipes from his current appearances on The Great British Menu television show during a hands-on cookery day at The David Adlard Cookery School.

The May 13 appearance at the cookery school's purpose built teaching kitchen at The Walpole Arms, in Itteringham near Blickling will have 12 spaces.

Mr Byrne was just 22 when he won his first Michelin star during his Adlards stint.

From there he moved to London where he worked in a number of top kitchens, including that of Tom Aikens, before securing the head chef role at The Dorchester in 2006.

He gave up that position in 2008 to open his gastropub The Church Green in Cheshire, which has been awarded three AA rosettes.

In 2009 he was one of the chefs chosen to take part in The Great British Menu and published his book Made in Great Britain in the same year.

Richard Bryan, the former Masterchef producer who runs the cookery school with David Adlard, said: 'We are delighted to be welcoming such a prestigious chef to the school in its first term.

'This is a rare chance to learn to cook the best of British menus with one of the country's top kitchen stars.'

Places for the day, which runs from 10am to 4pm, cost 165. Call 01263 587258 for information.
