A thriving theatre has been shortlisted for a £2,000 award to get a younger generation involved in the arts.

Sheringham Little Theatre in North Norfolk, recently clinched a £10,000 National Lottery, Awards for All, prize to re-vamp their café, the Hub, and they are now looking for more cash to get equipment for the younger users of the theatre.

The new wooden floor, lighting and stackable chairs mean that the made-over café can become a studio for workshops, writing classes and a slam night.

The theatre has traditionally had an older audience, but with the modernised attraction they are hoping to encourage even more youngsters to get involved.

If the theatre is awarded the money, they want to buy some DJ decks and more equipment.

To get into the final the theatre need to attract the most votes in a phone-in and web poll.

The final stage, which will be between three bids, in the art category, will appear on the BBC National Lottery show.
