Sheringham Little Theatre will be bringing Covent Garden to the north Norfolk coast on January 21, with an acclaimed production of Verdi's much-loved opera Rigolleto, screened live from the Royal Opera House.
Premiered in 1851 in Venice, Rigoletto is filled with memorable melodies and a thriller-like plot combining corruption and lust with love, intrigue, revenge and tragedy.
Set in a renaissance court ruled by a debauched duke, it tells the tale of the vengeful court jester Rigoletto, who mocks the father of a young woman seduced by his master.
As a result of his actions, the jester's own daughter becomes one of the duke's victims and Rigoletto's revenge ultimately leads to tragedy in a devastating climax.
The production, by David McVicar, will be shown at Sheringham Little Theatre on Sunday, January 21 at 2pm. Tickets, priced £15, are available from the box office on 01263 822347 or from www.sheringhamlittletheatre.com
