Beer drinkers will be able to enjoy a pint of 'rail' ale whilst admiring vintage steam trains during the 11th annual North Norfolk Railway Beer Festival.

The three-day event will take place in the atmospheric surroundings of Sheringham's restored Victorian station from Friday, July 13 to Sunday, July 15.

North Norfolk Railway marketing director Colin Borg said: 'Last year we had a record number of people attending and sold a record 12,000 pints, even though the weather was rainy and miserable. The festival is very popular and it is always a jolly evening. There is just something about steam railways and beer that seems to go together.'

This year's event will showcase more than 100 beers, ciders and perries from across the UK. Live bands will play throughout the weekend to keep ale drinkers entertained.

The Classic Dixieland Jazz Trio will get the festival under way at lunchtime on the Friday, while The King Size Papas will perform 40s and 50s jazz and blues in the evening.

North Norfolk four-piece The Yow Yows will perform a set of classic covers and their own material on the Saturday afternoon, while Norwich-based Johnny Jump Band will headline the Saturday night, playing Americana, blues and rockabilly music.

The King Size Papas will take to the stage again on the Sunday to bring the festival to a close.

There will be marquees on platform two of the station and a train will be drawn up for festival-goers to sit in. A leisure vintage diesel and steam train service will be operating between Holt and Sheringham every 45 minutes during the event, with the last train leaving Holt at 5.30pm.

Hot food will be available throughout the three days of the festival. Souvenir glasses and polo shirts will also be on sale.

Entry is free to the festival, which is open between 11am and 11pm on the Friday and Saturday and from 11am to 4.30pm on the Sunday.

There will be a frequent rail service on the Bittern Line from Norwich via North Walsham and Cromer to the festival in Sheringham. The last Bittern Line train back to North Walsham and Norwich leaves at 11.47 on Friday and Saturday.
