Talented young singers, actors and dancers have a chance to appear in an amateur production of the classic Sandy Wilson musical romance, The Boyfriend, which is being staged by Sheringham Little Theatre in May.

Wells-based educational arts worker Roberta Hammond and well-known north Norfolk entertainer Terry Chappelle, who is leading the cast, will be holding auditions on Sunday , and they are looking for 10 youngsters able to play characters aged 16-plus.

The musical romance, which will feature an exciting mix of experienced amateur performers and up-and-coming young talent, is set on the French Riviera of the 1920s, where, at Madame Dubonnet's finishing school for young ladies, millionaire's daughter Polly Browne tries to escape her father's influence and find true love.

But when she falls for delivery boy Tony, things become more complicated than she had hoped.

Featuring songs including I Could be Happy with You and Won't You Charleston With Me?, in 1971, the hit play was turned into a film starring Twiggy.

Auditions will be held at Sheringham Little Theatre on Sunday at 11am. For more information, phone 07788 740187.
