This year Mundesley hosts its 24th festival with the aim of increasing takings to provide a 25-year special next year.

The original idea was from Mundesley resident Charles Loades who as a music lover and competent pianist wanted to give the village a festival of music to suit a wide range of tastes.

With the aid of local friends, 1984 saw the First Mundesley Festival with a week of evening acts. Most of them were professionals - bands and singers - some were local artistes. Phil Drackett was the compere with his wife Joan finding the acts to fit the programme. Those who run the festival give their time voluntarily the purpose being to firstly give the village as good a programme as the festival can afford, to sell as many 'seats' as possible so there is more money in the kitty to bring in better acts.

Pat Nearney is the compere for this year and the programme is:

Sunday 3rd August 'Old Thyme Music Hall' with Mr Peachy Mead and vocalist Eve Bridger

Monday 4th August 'Jonathan Wyatt Big Band' with Ollie Day

Tuesday 5th August Keith Skipper's 'Press Gang'

Wednesday 6th August 'Dennis Lotis and his Jazz friends' with trumpeter Ronnie Hughes

Thursday 7th August 'Isla St Clair' and guitarist RW Taylor

Friday 8th August 'Helen Baden' with the Craig Milverton Trio

Saturday 9th August ' The Upper Octave'

All at the Coronation Hall Mundesley at 7.45pm. Tickets Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday £8 - Monday £12 - Wednesday and Friday £10.
