A group of Norfolk art teachers will be showing off their talents at a Blickling Hall exhibition.

The free display called State of the Art will be in the Hobart Gallery between Monday, February 18 and Sunday, February 24 between 10.15am and 5.30pm.

It has been organised by illustrator Kirsty O'Leary-Leeson, 41, from Plumstead, who teaches art part time at Sheringham High School.

Other artists involved are her husband Jamie O'Leary-Leeson, head art at Sheringham high; Kerry Smith also from Sheringham high; Holly Pearce from Cromer Primary School; Jim Collin from St Andrew's School in Aylmerton; husband and wife Andy and Gill Cairns from Norfolk Adult Education; Ruth DeNeve from Mundesley Primary School; and Stefan Semenczuk from Sprowston Community High School.

The artists will be at the gallery on February 24 between 3-5pm.

Mrs O'Leary-Leeson said: 'It is quite nice if students can see that teachers have an artistic life outside of the classroom. If it works out and enjoyed by others I might like to branch out and do something bigger with more art teachers.'

Some of the original work will be on sale and it will be mixed media, from oil paintings and drawings to photography.

Mrs O'Leary-Leeson, a mother of four, moved to Cromer when she was 16 and studied at Paston Sixth Form College in North Walsham.

She went on to study illustration at Bournemouth and Poole College of Art and Design where she met her husband.

After freelancing she moved back to Norfolk in 1997 and studied a fine art degree at the former Norwich School of Art and Design, now called the Norwich University of the Arts.
