Farce-thriller at the Little Theatre
The breakneck pace and hilarious mishaps of farce mix with the tension and mystery of a thriller in the latest offering in Sheringham Little Theatre's summer repertory season, Snakes and Ladders, which opens tomorrow night (July 24).
The breakneck pace and hilarious mishaps of farce mix with the tension and mystery of a thriller in the latest offering in Sheringham Little Theatre's summer repertory season, Snakes and Ladders, which opens tomorrow night (July 24).
A fast moving comedy from the pen of Rising Damp writer Eric Chappell, the play is set in sunny Spain, where cash-strapped couple Sam and Fay Spencer hope to bag a free holiday in a luxurious villa.
But, thanks to a series of mix-ups and mishaps, their holiday turns out to be rather less peaceful and relaxing than they had hoped.
The play, which runs until Tuesday (July 29) is directed by Paston College expressive arts teacher Simon Thompson, whose past productions for north Norfolk youth company Far East Theatre have included Waiting for Godot, Animal Farm and Macbeth.
Simon, who trained as an actor at East 15 Acting School, Essex, met his wife Debbie while in repertory at the Little Theatre, where she is now artistic director.
Snakes and Ladders is the first outing as a summer rep guest director for Simon, who turned to teaching after enjoying a 10-year career as an actor working in theatre, TV and radio.
