An amateur dramatic society in north Norfolk is appealing for help to find a new costume store after being told it will lose its current one in a month.

The group, which puts on three performances a year in Cromer and Sheringham, has been using a temporary holding space since December when the room they had used free of charge for 12 year had to be reclaimed by the owner.

Andrew Payne, chairman of the Cromer and Sheringham Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society, said: 'Unfortunately they had to change the building about so we had to come out of that place. Luckily we found an immediate temporary home - but it was always very clear it was temporary.'

In about a month the group - which has been running for 97 years - will also have to vacate that store, leaving them with nowhere to stash their many suits, hats, period costumes and props.

Mr Payne, who joined 30 years ago, said the society was appealing for help to find the items a new home.

He said: 'If you think of a household garage, that's the sort of size ideally. It needs to be somewhere that's dry and somewhere that's reasonably accessible - but we don't expect somewhere where we can come and go as we please.'

Although the previous store had been loaned to the group free of charge, Mr Payne said they would be able to pay a small charge.

The am dram group, which has about 100 members and another 80 'vice presidents' who get priority booking for shows, will perform Singing In The Rain at Cromer Pier this summer.

Each year it stages a musical at the Cromer venue, as well as one comedy and one drama at Sheringham Little Theatre.
