Sunday's Potter Heigham Country Fayre will see organisers Midas Fundraisers celebrate their 30th year in business with the biggest event yet.

BBC Radio Norfolk's Wally Webb will formally open the family fun event which includes bands, dog racing, vintage and classic cars, tractors and steam engines, craft and model displays, police car demonstrations and displays, an East Coast Truckers display, donkey rides, and a demonstration by Walcott flood wardens.

Founder member Norman Harrison has spent most of his spare time, during the past years, raising money for local, worthy causes, including James Paget Hospital, The Anthony Nolan Trust, Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, Ludham and Stalham Surgeries, by funding enough money to purchase various pieces of equipment urgently required, but beyond the recipients' budget allowances.

Last year's fayre raised more than £4,000 of which every penny went to nominated charities, including the Diabetes Trust. Recently, £1,000 was presented to Ludham surgery which enabled them to replace the rather antiquated surgical couch.

“I haven't done all this on my own and have to thank many people who work very hard to further our cause. I am so grateful to all those who have supported Midas over the years,” said Mr Harrison, who is past of a seven-strong committee.

“We are desperate to encourage more people to join us and keep Midas going,” said Mr Harrison, who is, at present, recovering from complicated eye surgery. “We need all the support we can get.”
