'From the Bavarian Highlands', a repertoire of music by composer Sir Edward Elgar, will be performed at two upcoming church concerts.

The choir Cantamus will also perform Folk-Song Settings' by Percy Grainger, an Australian composer who played a prominent role in the revival of interest in British folk music in the early years of the 20th century.

The concerts will take place at Thorpe Market Church on Friday, May 25 and West Runton Church on Saturday, May 26, both at 7pm. Percy Grainger's folk song settings, mostly from Lincolnshire, are said to be some of the most sensitive and beautiful ever written. The folk song elements in Elgar's 'From the Bavarian Highlands' are made up, but no less enchanting. The concerts will be conducted by Philip Adams with piano accompaniment by Michael Finnissy. Tickets are £8. For more information visit thecantamuschoir.webs.com or find their Facebook page.
