Talented young singers were in the spotlight with the stars of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Members of Broadland Youth Choir joined the professional cast for each performance of the hit musical at Norwich Theatre Royal.

X-Factor finalist Lloyd Daniels played Joseph in the show while ITV's Over the Rainbow winner Danielle Hope played the Narrator and Matt Lapinskas from Eastenders and Dancing on Ice played playing Pharaoh.

Carole Tims, Broadland Youth Choir's musical director, said 38 young Norfolk singers aged six to 13 had been working hard for the last five weeks to prepare for the show and she said she was really proud of them.

'They are on stage all of the time. There's only two songs they don't take part in,' she said.

'I think they are so lucky because money cannot buy this type of experience. It is the sort of thing they will remember all their days.'

Jodie Wiggins, 12, from Potter Heigham, was one of the Broadland Youth Choir members performing in Joseph.

'It's amazing. The whole cast are lovely and the atmosphere is brilliant. I'm really enjoying it,' Jodie said.

'My favourite song is Any Dream Will Do because I like the harmonies.

'The choir have been working really well as a team. We have been working really hard in rehearsals and it's really great to be a part of Joseph.'

Bradley Flint, 12, from Horstead, said: 'It's exciting being part of a big show and getting to experience what it is like to be a professional actor. My favourite song in the show is Jacob And Sons.'

Julia Lelewel, 12, from Norwich, said: 'It's really exciting because you get to see what it is like to be with a professional cast on a professional stage.

'My favourite part is Song Of The King because it has got lots of dancing and it's very energetic and exciting.'

Isaac Low, 12, from Pulham Market, said: 'It's really fun. Song Of The King is my favourite part because it is the most lively song and I like the way the Pharaoh plays the part of Elvis as well.'

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is a retelling of the Biblical story of Joseph. It started life as a pop cantata in 1967 when it was written for a school concert by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice.
