A north Norfolk community choir is creating a singing sensation, boosting its numbers to 150 members from all over the area.

Sing for Joy was founded by former social worker Teresa Verney, who after re-training as a musician, worked as a professional oboist.

After a stint as a psychotherapist, Teresa signed up for a voice course and decided to pass her passion for singing on to others.

Choir members at Sheringham, Cromer, Fakenham and Norwich meet up to practise every week, also taking part in singing events including an annual concert at Salle Church, Reepham, which last year raised nearly £1,600 for the children's charity Musical Keys.

Teresa will be running a two-day singing course for all abilities at Baconsthorpe Village Hall on March 16 and 17. To book, or to find out more about local groups, phone 01263 570117 or visit www.teresaverney.com.
