This superb 7-2 victory over hosts Attleborough, where Holt played most of the second half with more than half the team 21 and under, keeps them well in touch with the Anglian Combination Division One leaders.

This superb 7-2 victory over hosts Attleborough, where Holt played most of the second half with more than half the team 21 and under, keeps them well in touch with the Anglian Combination Division One leaders.

The Owls had several players unavailable but made their intentions clear from the outset. Toby Blowers almost opened the scoring after five minutes when set clear, having his shot well saved.

Holt broke the deadlock five minutes later when Matthew Sanders found himself clear and drove home from 20-yards. Attleborough drew level midway through the half in a rare attack following a scramble in Holt's area.

Five minutes from the break Holt took the lead when, following some good defending and an excellent through ball from Kevin Moore, Billy Edwards took the ball on to beat the keeper.

Just before the break Holt suffered a further blow when Steven Thompson was injured and was replaced by Allan Gravenor.

Ten minutes into the second half Holt extended their lead when an excellent through ball from Jason Hawkins found Josh Dixon in full flight. Dixon made no mistake with a clinical finish.

Two minutes later teenagers Gravenor and Dixon combined well to allow 16-year-old Blowers to score Holt's fourth.

Blowers then further increased Holt's lead when he was on hand to head home after Dixon's shot was parried by the keeper.

A breakaway goal reduced the lead before Edwards scored with a scorching drive from the edge of the box.

Edwards then had to leave the pitch and veteran Robin Thaxter was called into action for the last 10 minutes. The final goal was scored by the player who scored the first, Sanders driving home in fine style.

Again the match's oldest player, Jason Hawkins, proved what an excellent signing he has been and what an excellent footballer he is.
