Yachtsmen's chance of revenge

Wroxham host Histon Reserves on Saturday and then on Tuesday get a chance to avenge their FACup exit at Dereham Town.

Wroxham started with a changed side with no Shaun Howes, who suffered two cracked ribs in the Dereham game, Andy Key was unwell and Ollie King suspendered so Josh Carus lined up at left-back with Steve Spriggs on the wing with Owen Paynter making his debut in the middle.

A strong Felxstowe squad started off with the wind behind them and for the 20 minutes there was not much to choose between the two sides. Wroxham then started to push forward with Spriggs and Gilmore getting more in to the game getting the ball in the box for Paul Cook, who hit a post, and for Paynter to have a couple of good shots saved.

Gilmore was having some good runs down the left. He appeared to be brought down in the box but the ref waved play on with Cook going close and White working hard in the middle.

The Yachtsmen were awarded a penalty; again it was Gilmore who was brought down and Owen Paynter took an excellent spot-kick to open his account.

The second half started with no changes and Wroxham were now playing with more confidence. After an hour's play the Blues went futher ahead when Steve Spriggs picked up a loose ball 40 yards from goal and after beating two men let fly from 30 yards for an outstanding goal.

The rest of the game was played mainly in the Felixstowe half with Cook missing from five yards and White's 25 yarder saved by the keeper. Carus' header from 20 yards out just skimmed over the bar.

A good team performance all round with the defence looking solid and Scott Howie collecting everythihg in the air.

The Felxstowe keeper made eight excellent saves and was named MoM.
