WROXHAM are back at Carrow Road hoping to lift the Norfolk Senior Cup for the seventh time in March after battling to a nervous 3-2 semi-final victory over the Planters on Tuesday night, writes Roy Webster.

The visitors for the first half hour ran their hosts ragged and deservedly went 1-0 up in the 22nd minute when Paul Atkins completed a smooth three-man passing movement to drive past Woodcock from 18 yards. Soon after the Planters broke through again and Woodcock saved his side with a brave dive at Atkins' feet. Wroxham at this stage were failing to break into the last third.

But suddenly the visitors seemed to run out of steam and Wroxham equalised in the 41st minute. Lee Gilman unleashed a 23-yard blockbuster which the keeper failed to hold and Danny White followed up to blast the ball into the roof of the net.

After the break the Yachtsmen set sail for the home half and Key nearly beat the keeper to the ball from Gilmore's cross.

The goal that Wroxham threatened duly arrived in the 55th minute when Andy Key, way out near the touchline, delivered a low free-kick through a forest of legs to beat the keeper in the far corner.

In the 70th minute the game seemed over as the United keeper was robbed of the ball by Wroxham manager Hilton, who had come on for Gilman, and he made ground to side-foot the ball into an empty net from a narrow angle.

Then more drama when Atkins was shoved over by Carus and the referee,, without hesitation, pointed to the spot. Paul Atkins composed himself but Woodcock guessed right and pushed the spot kick round the post for a corner.

With time running out Atkins made amends by reducing the arrears.

Could this be a repeat of Sheringham's sensational comeback as they put out holders Dereham in the other semi-final? No, for Wroxham held out to clinch the tie and look forward to taking on the Dolphin Autos Anglian Combination Shannocks in the final showdown.

Afterwards Wroxham manager Damian Hilton said: “They gave us a tough game, especially in the first 25 minutes. I think we deserved to win in the end and hope to regain the trophy.”

On Saturday, Wroxham entertain Harwich & Parkeston in the league.
