Wroxham face a tough opening month to their new season starting with Felixstowe and Walton away in the Ridgeons Premier League on Saturday followed by a visit to FA Vase semi-finalists Lowestoft Town

on Tuesday.

The following Saturday the Yachtsmen entertain Kirkley and Pakefield in an FA Cup extra preliminary round before completing August league fixtures against Leiston and Walsham-le-Willows at home and away to newly-promoted Ely City.

Team boss Damian Hilton has retained the majority of last season's Norfolk Senior Cup winners with the exception of part-timer Justin Fox and striker Lee Gilman who have departed to Kirkley.

Veterans Gavin Pauling and Leighton Miller have joined Diss Town while Ben Furlong, who has been promised a first team place by Dereham Town, has also left the club.

“I forecast a very difficult season because a number of teams such as Kirkley, Leiston and Dereham are reported to have strengthened since the end of last season.

“Our policy is to give some of last term's successful Anglian Combination champions a shot in the Ridgeons League, and all of them have signed Ridgeons forms.”

Listing his new signings Hilton added: “I have brought in an excellent keeper Duncan McNally from King's Lynn, Andy Gleave from Sheringham, Andy Fulcher from Diss, Gavin Crane from Whitton and Ben Carver, who was out of action last season because of work commitments.

“The man we shall miss is striker Ben Thompson, who will not be returning to Norwich to live and has opted to sign for another club closer to his Oxford home.”
