NORTH Walsham Town played host to Beccles on a fine afternoon and were good value for their 2-0 success.

Manager Musgrove one change to his starting line-up with skipper Cullington returning to the heart of defence to partner Davies. Grand moved over to left back, thus relegating Lythgoe to the bench where he was joined by Boswell and Knowles.

Prior to the game, there was a minute's applause in memory of Shaun Bunn, who tragically passed away the previous weekend. Referee Howes then began the game and it was evidently clear from an early stage that the combatants were evenly matched and it would take a stroke of magic, luck or a combination of both to take all three points. Neither side looked willing to take any undue risks and thus the game was entertaining if not spectacular.

The first chance of the game fell to Beccles when the dangerous Remblance saw his diving header fly inches past Kellett's post. At the opposite end, Dale Wilton was causing numerous problems down the right flank and he created chances for Miller and Clarke which went begging.

On 35 minutes Town took the lead. A quickly taken free-kick released Dale Wilton and his low shot arrowed past the keeper and into the net despite the attempts of a Beccles defender.

The Angels managed to maintain this lead up to the halfway mark through some tidy defending by Cullington and Grand in particular.

The second half continued in much the same fashion as both sides probed for the all important second goal. Beccles had a chance when Remblance broke clear but his ambitious effort was claimed easily by Kellett. Wilton was continuing to worry the Beccles backline and was proving that, on his day, he is undoubtedly the trickiest winger that many defences will face this season.

With 20 minutes claimed the killer second goal. Again it came from a set piece as Hinton's perfect delivery was met by Adam Ramsbottom whose downward header resulted in his second goal in as many games since his arrival at Greens Road.

With a two goal cushion, Musgrove introduced his substitutes at various intervals with Knowles, Boswell and Lythgoe replacing Clarke, Hinton and Palmer respectively, and this did not unsettle Town who held on with the defence remaining solid and Kellett gobbling up everything that entered his area like an angry beast that had missed his lunch.

It is hoped that this level of performance can be maintained because it is clearly evident that Town have players in Wilton, Hinton, Clarke and Ramsbottom who have the ability to change the game at a moment's notice.
