SOME 18 years after they were promoted to the National League, North Walsham RFC are, following the publication of next season's fixture list, planning their return to London League Division One.

With the long list of overnight trips to Cornwall and Gloucestershire behind them, the new campaign will present new challenges coupled with visits to clubs and grounds that will hold memories for some of the older, now retired members.

Having dropped down a league the Vikings will be in a division containing 12 clubs as opposed to the 14 in National Three South plus cup fixtures.

Some of the opposition - Jersey, Portsmouth, Barnes and Tring - will be completely new to them.

The new season will start with a trip to Bishop's Stortford on September 13 and the following week the Scottow gates will be opened for the visit of Hertford. On September 27 the team and supporters will be taking to the air for a trip to newly-promoted Jersey.
