Boxing promotor Frank Warren says the sky is the limit for Cromer's Liam Walsh.

The 24-year-old boxer is the proud holder of the Commonwealth super-featherweight belt after a stunning points victory over Ghanaian Maxwell Awuku on Saturday.

Liam topped the bill at Warren's York Hall promotion, with twin brother Ryan and older sibling Michael both scoring impressive wins on the undercard.

And Warren, one of the world's leading boxing promoters, says they will be given the opportunity to ensure Cromer is home to a trio of champions.

It's Liam who had the honour of picking up the first title in the biggest test of his two-and-a-half-year pro career.

'I thought that it was a fantastic performance by Liam to overcome a very tough African fighter in only his 10th fight,' said Warren, pictured, yesterday.

'This will be the start of a fantastic journey for him and the Commonwealth title could be the first of many.

'He has the ability to go all the way and just needs to keep busy and learning in the gym.'

Trainer Graham Everett welcomed Warren's comments.

'If anybody can provide championship title fights then it is Frank Warren,' he said. 'He is the best promoter to bring on the big occasions.

'What he has said rubber-stamps what I have always believed. He knows the boxing game inside out, like I would like to think I do. He is a promoter and he will provide. If anyone can get the fights we want, it's him.'

Michael was the first of the Walsh winners on Saturday, stopping Ian Bailey – for the first time in his career – with three knockdowns inside a round to take his record to eight KOs in eight fights.

Ryan went the eight-round distance with Scottish super-bantamweight champion James Ancliff, and Warren says their chance of a title shot is fast approaching.

'It was a great night for Ryan and Michael as well who notched up wins and it won't be long until they are in title action,' said Warren. 'To be fair, I think Ryan and Michael are probably only one fight away,' said Everett. 'They both got through tough fights on Saturday – that's what we are here for, that's why we are in this game for. It was brilliant.'

The Bethnal Green venue was packed to the rafters with the brothers' army of fans – the Farmy Army – leaving only one question: when will the Walshes fight in Norfolk?

'I don't know when that will happen, but I would love to see it,' said Everett. 'It would be fantastic, but it's a question of the promotion finding a suitable venue.'
