Trimingham Pilgrims suffer narrow defeat on 3G pitch

Trimingham Pilgrims made the trip to Easton College to face Schoolhouse on the 3G pitch in their latest Norwich Sunday League encounter.
Five players were unavailable from the previous week’s Norfolk Sunday Senior Cup winning line-up but manager Antoni Fawkes did well to put together a competitive squad.
The home side took an early lead with a shot that clipped the inside of a post and rolled over the line.
They went on to create a string of chances in the first half but keeper Leigh Brown made some excellent saves.
Pilgrims went looking for an equaliser in the second period but Schoolhouse were coping better on the artificial surface.
A tussle in the box resulted in the referee awarding the home side a penalty which they converted to record a 2-0 win.
Meanwhile the Walcott Lighthouse Inn North East Norfolk League will have no further interest in this season’s Norfolk Primary Cup.
Erpingham Reserves suffered a heavy defeat at home to Belton Reserves whilst Gimingham Reserves went close, going down by the odd goal of five away at Bar 33 FC. Sadly North Walsham A never travelled to South Walsham Reserves.
Gimingham are now clear leaders of the Sanders Coaches Division One thanks to a hat-trick from Oliver Mills, braces from Wayne Cutting, Craig Shreeve and James Watson with Glen Thurston completing the 10-1 win against Erpingham, with James Wright netting the visitors’ only goal. Hickling travelled to Holt Reserves and won by a 3-1 margin while Southrepps and Aylsham A shared the points and two goals.
In the Anglian Combination Holt United are up to third in Division Two following an excellent 2-1 home win over an in-form Fakenham Town Reserves side.
All the goals came in the first half, with Craig Knowles and Chris Smith on target for the hosts.
Holt have now taken 15 points from their first eight games in a good response to last season’s relegation from senior football and remain just four points behind leaders Easton.
Holt and Fakenham Reserves meet again at Holt Sports Centre on Saturday in the Cyril Ballyn Cup, with the next league fixture against Acle Reserves at home on November 4,
