AFTER a four-week Christmas and New Year break, Cromer returned to Norfolk League Division Two action this week with a visit to second-in-the-table, Barnham Broom II, and it was no surprise that Ben Herrieven's relatively young side were soundly beaten 20-3.

At number five Louise Taylor came close to winning the first game but after narrowly going down 10-9 she lost the next two while at number four Luke Perry was never in contention against the experienced veteran Pete Blackmore.

Herrieven did take the second game of his third string match and came close in the third but had to settle for a 3-1 defeat whilst the same fate befell Alex Foster at number two who won the third game of his match and pushed his opponent hard in the other three.

In the final match of the evening Adam Gretton, playing on the courts where he learnt his squash as a junior, took the opening game of the first-string match but couldn't build on this and became the third player to go down 3-1.

Results: Adam Gretton lost to Adam Goodson 9-6 0-9 4-9 7-9, Alex Foster lost to Luke Plumridge 4-9 8-9 9-6 7-9, Ben Herrieven lost to Adie Martin 2-9 9-6 8-10 3-9, Luke Perry lost to Peter Blackmore 4-9 1-9 5-9, Louise Taylor lost to Sam Hales 9-10 5-9 1-9.
