WITH five successive defeats on the spin and the same number of games remaining, North Walsham desperately need to return to winning ways but will find Saturday's opponents Hertford difficult to crack.

They are on a roll and have consolidated themselves in third place in the table six points above Bracknell who have two games in hand. Walsham struggled in the away fixture.

There is one monumental landmark being reached on Saturday when loose-head prop Stuart Loose makes his 350th start for Walsham' first team.

The Raiders have a fixture against Hertford seconds while the Warriors, who had an excellent win over Norwich last week, take a well-earned rest.

At the weekend the Vikings gave probably their most disappointing performance of the campaign in losing 20-8 at Havant.

In the first 10 or 15 minutes they looked to be well in control and but for the wayward boot of Iain Young and a couple of poor passes could well have had a dozen points on the board and been heading for a long overdue win.

The Walsham players were suitably chastened at the end and had to listen to a litany of home truths from the coaches but knew instinctively that they had let themselves down badly and have to bounce back against Hertford, an altogether different proposition, knowing

that they have to take collective responsibility and play the full 80 minutes if they are to take the points.

London Scottish U17 5, North Walsham U17 30

North Walsham comprehensively defeated opponents London Scottish, scoring four tries in the process.

A penalty from Henry Dewing in the fourth minute set the junior Vikings on their way. Andy Harris crossed for the first try. A dummy run opened the gate for Harry Downing to score. Dewing converted and then added a penalty.

Second half Harry Downing collected his second score, Dewing again converting.

Although all the tries came from the backs, the win was on the back of a great performance by the forwards. The final score was as clear cut as those before and it was from a line-out on the left that the ball was sent to Toby Fletcher, one of several under 16s in the squad, who weaved his way through to score. Scottish upped the pressure were rewarded with a late try.
