Cromer, North Walsham and Sheringham are in the top six of teams chasing the Anglian Combination championship with Holt in the bottom third and Sterry Cup holders Wroxham Reserves bottom.

Cromer lost their top-table home clash with joint leaders Loddon 1-0, Hempnall now heading the title chase on goal difference.

North Walsham won 3-2 at Dersingham with goals from Adam Ramsbottom, David Hinton and Darren Miller.

Sheringham's Oliver King scored a brace to give them a 2-1 win over Holt, for whom Kevin Moore netted.

Saturday sees Mummery Cup second round action (1.30pm): Holt at Blofield, Sheringham at home to North Walsham.

Cromer Town 0, Loddon United 1

Loddon were the visitors to Cabbell Park and both teams wanted three points to move away from the sides at the top. Cromer made one change to the side with Terrington making his first start in place of Hunton, writes Richard Cox.

In the opening moments there was a long stoppage after a collision between two Cromer players and the Loddon goalkeeper.

After the stoppage Cromer applied pressure on the visitors' defence. Tom Davies crossed to Parker at the near post, whose flick for goal was blocked. Davies then laid the ball to Terrington, but he fired over.

The pressure continued. Terrington flicked the ball on to Eves, who rolled it back to Davies - but he was off target from close range.

Eves then shot straight into the hands of Robbie Collins from long range. The Crabs continued to cause problems to the Loddon defence. After some good play down the left Bugdale cut inside but fired wide.

A few minutes before the break the visitors nicked a goal against the run of play. A tame shot from James Majoribanks was straight at Parsons, but he pushed it away for a corner. From the flag-kick the ball was scuffed into the box along the floor, the Crabs defence didn't clear it and it ran through to Chris Hancock, who finished from close range.

Cromer had another chance in time added on when Marsh crossed to Honeyman who headed over from close-range.

Cromer were still dominating possession in the second half and maintained the attack on the Loddon back four.

Parker ran past Anderson and crossed into the box but the ball was just above Terrington.

Bradshaw then ran down the left and crossed into the are where Hunton volleyed towards goal, but Collins made a good save.

There was one last opportunity for Cromer in time added on when the ball ran to Horton at the back post, but his low, driven effort was blocked.

Cromer deserved at least a point from the game after dominating possession. The workrate, effort and fitness was up there with any side but on the day, but the Crabs lacked the bit of luck they needed to get the goal.

The Loddon goal was a sloppy one to concede and United just sat back thereafter.

The Crabs will be hoping to avoid a fourth straight defeat on Saturday when they travel to Brandon.

Cromer Reserves lost 3-2 at Sprowston Athletic Reserves. Liam and Ryan Walsh scored the goals. This weekend they entertain Brandon Reserves at Cromer in the Reserves KO Cup (k.o.1.30pm).
