Sheringham skipper S Hudson faith in a young Lobsters' attack was soon rewarded. C Moy and F Sutton soon got amongst the Gooderstone batting. When S Smith struck with his second ball, Gooderstone were in trouble at 35 for three in the 11th over. Callum Taylor, aged 12, bowled superbly for 4-3-1-1. At the other end Smith picked up two more wickets, finishing with three for 15 off his eight overs to leave Gooderstone 53 for five after 21 overs.

The visitors rallied briefly but G Youngs and N Lomax (one for seven) frustrated the batsmen. Opener Moy (three for 18) returned and picked up two quick ickets before Youngs (on for seven) wrapped things up at 85 in the 38th over.

Sheringham openers H Blackiston and M Hudson made 18 after six overs. Blackiston (8) looked in good touch before playing on. F Sutton struck the ball impressively in a fluent 26 before he skied a catch attempting another big blow, Taylor (1) was soon stumped to leave Sheringham 63-3.

Keeper S Lloyd (10no) hit the winning runs, as he and Hudson (27no) saw Sheringham comfortably home by seven wickets with 25 overs to spare.

A young Sheringham side had just three players over19 but five catches went down. Next is a trip to Terrington.

It was left to W Neave to finish the job off for Sheringham with four not out.
