Jubilant Wroxham Reserves hoisted the Sterry Cup which was presented to them on Tuesday night by the Dolphin Autos Anglian Combination chairman Graham Jubb.

The young Yachtsmen clinched the Premier Division title with a game to spare, scoring a brilliant 6-0 result at Dersingham before ending their season midweek with a flourishing finish and a 3-1 victory over Acle at Trafford Park, writes Roy Webster.

On Saturday striker Paul Cook was the hat-trick hero, the other scorers to seal the championship Ben Morgan (2) and Colin Wines.

Manager Mark Wilkinson said: “This was a brilliant season for the lads. Game after game they have produced mature performance and beating out of sight some of the hotly-fancied teams.

“The whole squad displayed total commitment, superb skills combined with that most vital asset of all - team spirit. I was very proud for them to receive the cup for the Wroxham Football Club after an interval of 13 years.”

Meanwhile Cromer Town, who battled right until the moment they could not leapfrog over the all-conquering Yachtsmen, are guaranteed runners-up medals after appearing to be out of the running midway through the season.

The Crabs made certain of second spot on Saturday with an impressive 3-1 victory at Hempnall (Darren Terrington 2, Jamie Hunten.)

Team boss Chris Wigger, who said he is already making plans for next season, was a little disappointed to finish runners-up while paying fulsome praise to the new champions.

“All season Wilko's men have come through with the results that matter, while we have dropped points when it mattered most,” he declared.

Sheringham, who beat Norwich Union 1-0 (Bevis) can still make the top five if they win their two remaining games. North Walsham, who lost 2-1 at Acle before drawing 1-1 with Blofield on Tuesday, can still make mid-table.

In Division One, Holt must have been disappointed with Watton's 3-2 triumph over Loddon for that left the Owls unable to overtake Watton and requiring a complete collapse of Loddon to achieve second place.

Stalham achieved an excellent 3-1 victory at Scole but Carl Nicholls' men cannot finish better than 12th with no threat of relegation.

In Division Two, Aylsham Wanderers are relegated following a 3-1 defeat by Bungay Townand a 4-2 home reverse in the derby with Reepham on Tuesday night. Hoveton Wherrymen are promoted with Gorleston Reserves after demolishing Easton Reserves 8-0.
