Stalham Town have begun the search for a new manager while they conduct a battle against relegation from the Premier Division of the Anglian Combination.

Town are three points from safety after losing 3-0 at home to fellow strugglers Acle United on Saturday and have a crunch game at bottom side Reepham Town coming up on Saturday.

Long serving manager John Bell will be overseeing matters for the rest of the season but will then be standing down to focus on playing for the club rather than directing operations from the sidelines.

A statement from the club read: 'Ideally, the club would like the successful applicant or applicants to work alongside the current manager and squad until the end of the 2017-18 season to allow a smooth transition when they take over the role for the 2018-19 campaign. However, this is not mandatory.

'The successful applicant or applicants will be expected to work closely with the Reserve team management and liaise with the club's committee to help drive the club forward.'

Applications should be sent by email to stalhamtown@hotmail.co.uk with the closing date March 1.

Acle leapfrogged Stalham and moved out of the drop zone thanks their win at Rivers Park. Brett Colclough (2) and Seamus Bobby scored the goals.

Sheringham moved up to second in Division One thanks to a 3-1 home win over Attleborough Town. Darren Terrington (2) and Dale Wilton earned the points for the Shannocks, with Lewis Holden replying for Attleborough.

Wymondham are now seven points clear with a game in hand thanks to a thumping 11-2 win over Kirkley and Pakefield Reserves.

The derby match between Aylsham and North Walsham was one of a number of games to be postponed because of waterlogged pitches, with Cromer Town's home clash with Mundford going the same way.

Sheringham are at home to fourth placed Mundford on Saturday while other games include Kirkley & Pakefield Reserves v North Walsham, UEA v Aylsham and Yelverton v Cromer.

In the Mummery Cup semi-finals Norwich CEYMS will play host to Harleston whilst Sheringham entertain Blofield. Both ties will be played on Saturday, March 17.
