The weekend's North Norfolk 7 was blessed once again with a lovely, crisp autumn day. More than 250 runners from all over the country enjoyed the scenic run from Holt to Kelling and back to Gresham's School via Salthouse Heath.

At least 50 members of the North Norfolk Beach Runners were on hand to make sure that the race went smoothly so that runners and supporters alike could enjoy their visit to north Norfolk.

The race was won by City of Norwich AC runner, James O'Neill in a superb time of 39:55, with another Norwich runner, Andrew Bunn, not far behind.

North Norfolk Wheeler Will Dorsett showed that he is as good on his feet as he is on his bike by coming in fourth in exactly 42 minutes, while Dereham's talented 16-year-old, Sean Atterwill, looks to have tremendous potential in finishing fifth overall, but taking the junior race by some considerable distance.

The ladies' race was won in a superb time of 45:24 by another CONAC runner, Nicky Alford, while her friend and training partner, Beach Runner Dena Parfitt, found the race hard going, but was pleased to be back on the road after a lengthy lay-off.

Dena, who became World Half-Marathon Champion for her age group earlier this year, will now concentrate on some hard winter training in preparation for next year's London Marathon.

One North Norfolk Beach Runner not on duty was club chair, Andi Osborne. Andi had a good excuse, as she was running the Abingdon Marathon and, despite her recent illness, managed to get round in just over five hours, describing her time as “slow but sure”.
