Ashmanhaugh beat Thetford in Norfolk Alliance Division Three in a very good all-round performance with Tauseef Satti in brilliant form taking 6-25 off his 12 overs and contributing 51 with the bat.

Ashmanhaugh won the toss and invited Thetford to bat. K Branton and L Conroy made steady progress against the Ashmanhaugh opening bowling attack of Satti and Stuart Warminger and put on a 50 opening partnership.

However, a change of bowling saw both batsmen in quick succession fall to catches off Lovedeep Brar.

Captain Bernie Everett decided to bring back Satti for another spell and he took three quick wickets to leave Thetford struggling at 91-5 in the 30th over. R Smeed and P Sparkes rebuilt the innings but were never able to get on top of accurate bowling from all the Ashmanhaugh bowlers.

As the innings drew to a close Satti bowled both Smeed and Sparkes and Thetford finished on a score of 152-9 their 46 overs.

In reply Ashmanhaugh got off to an excellent start with Satti punishing any wayward bowling. Despite the early departure of Bernie Everett, Satti reached his 50 out of a total of 63 before he was brilliantly caught in the slips by D Newey of slow bowler M Terry for 51.

Rod Gant and Tom Sallis batted very sensibly in a partnership of 63 to take the score to 132 before Gant was bowled by M Smeed for 37.

Ashmanhaugh passed the target of 152 in the 41st over with Sallis (34) and Doug Riley (12) the not out batsmen.
