High-flying Sheringham have a big game under lights to look forward to next week.

The Shannocks' impressive progress this season will be put to the test on Tuesday evening when they entertain Norwich United, who play four steps higher in the league pyramid, in the third round of the Norfolk Senior Cup.

The Planters are currently struggling near the foot of Bostik League Division One North while Sheringham are flying high in Division One of the Anglian Combination - but it would still be a notable feat if the hosts progressed into the last eight of the competition.

The match at Sheringham Recreation Ground gets under way at 7.45pm and there will be extra-time and penalties if necessary. The successful team on Tuesday will be just two wins away from a big night out at Carrow Road

Sheringham remain top of the league but now have Wymondham Town hot on their heels.

The Shannocks got a point on their travels on Saturday as they drew 1-1 at Attleborough. Tom Hislop scored for the visitors but a Kieran Brown strike meant the spoils were shared.

Wymondham seized their chance to narrow the gap to just two points, with two games in hand, with a 4-0 home win over Watton. A hat-trick from Liam Moriarty and a goal from Ashley Mitchell gave them all three points.

Aylsham came out on the right side of a seven-goal thriller at home to Loddon as Rhys Cousins (2) and James Oliver (2) gave them a 4-3 win. Matthew Ayre (2) and Connor Davis replied for Loddon.

A hat-trick from Dom Mirner and further goals from Tom Hunter and Josh Knights gave Bungay a 5-0 win at home over North Walsham, keeping both sides in mid-table.

Cromer remain rooted to the bottom of the table without a point to their name after nine matches after Yelverton won 4-0 at Cabbell Park to make it five unbeaten. Tom Crabbe (2), Harry Maddison and Daniel Cooke sealed their win.

The Crabs travel to Hindringham on Saturday while North Walsham host Aylsham in a derby encounter and Sheringham take a break from league action to prepare for their big cup game.

In the Premier Division Stalham put some space between themselves and the bottom two with a 3-1 home win over basement side Reepham.

Liam Page, Pat Gainsford and Matty Watling earned them the points with Will Owen getting Reepham's consolation.

There's a tough game coming up for Stalham on Saturday, with a trip to leaders Harleston Town who have won all 10 of their league fixtures so far.
