Sheringham travelled to fourth placed Beccles A in Norfolk Alliance Division Four and kept their outside promotion hopes alive with a convincing victory.

The Lobsters made a confident start after winning the toos and opting to bat first but the hosts soon tightened their lines, removing Will Moy (20).

Opener Tom Sheridan (14) fell in the 10th over and with Matt Hudson, Simon Taylor and Harley Bailey following soon after Sheringham were in a spot of bother at 73-5 after 20 overs.

David King was still at the crease but Wes Neave (3) was soon the sixth man to go before the score reached 100.

This brought Shane Cox to the crease and he quickly was into his stride. Together with King he brought some momentum back the visitors' way, adding 55 in overs for the seventh wicket before King was caught for a valuable 48. Cox and Chris Moy (23) plundered some more useful runs, adding a quickfire 47 as the Lobsters reached a competitive 203-8, with Cox making an unbeaten 53, his maiden Alliance half century.

In reply the hosts reached 50 in the 15th over, behind the rate, but in the game with 10 wickets in hand. Cox continued his fine game by getting the key wicket of Jamie McDowell (35) in his third over and from there the Lobsters didn't look back. The spin of King was causing Beccles all kinds of problems as he struck four times in three overs in the middle of his spell. That, coupled with a second wicket for Cox (2-24), saw Beccles collapse to 69-6 after 24 overs.

The home side, playing with 10, offered some brief resistance but continued to attack and it wasn't long before the final three wickets fell. Koleswarararoa Kolluri (2-5) quickly bagged a brace of wickets, bowling with nice flight either side of Chirs Moy (1-20) returning to pick a wicket of his own. In the end Beccles were bowled out for 87 inside 34 overs as Sheringham picked up a comprehensive 116 run victory.

Next up is the final home game of the season for the Lobsters as they welcome second placed Bircham to the Recreation Ground this Saturday (12.30om). With a 24 point deficit to make up, and just two games left, nothing less than a big victory will do for Sheringham if they are to keep promotion hopes alive.

Sheringham are hosting their Presidents' Day this Sunday. The Presidents X1 will be taking on a Sheringham X1 from 12.30pm.
