Sheringham Football Club is celebrating double success.

The Shannocks won the Sterry Cup for the Dolphin Autos Anglian Combination championship for the first time since 1970 and the reserve team won the Division Five title.

The club hopes that will encourage more people to get involved and attract more sponsorship. Sheringham FC's committee is searching for new members to help run the team and promote it more widely, as well as help on match days. It is also looking to attract business sponsorship to help ensure a stable financial future for the club, and is accepting donations. The players also hope to have more fans supporting them at Weybourne Road on a Saturday.

The double win is the latest in a string of successes for the club since it moved to a new ground in Weybourne Road in 1996 after eight years without a home.

It was promoted three years running - a first for the Anglian Combination - and arrived in the Premier Division in 2005. They also played in the Norfolk Senior Cup final at Carrow Road last year - the first time since 1991 that a Combination side got that far.

The club's presentation night is tomorrow at the Lobster in Sheringham at 7pm. Tickets cost 20 including food, and are available from Jacqueline's on Station Road or by calling 01263 821212.
