Sheringham gave their survival hopes a massive boost with a thoroughly convincing derby win over Bradfield at the Recreation Ground.

The ten-wicket victory now pushes Sheringham clearer of trouble while sending their near-neighbours further into the mire.

Upon winning the toss, Sheringham captain Jez Wright invited Bradfield to bat first on a warm summers afternoon. Following victory over Topcroft a week previously, and with the bonus inclusion of pace pair James McAdam and Will Templeman, spirits in the camp were high.

Some seriously quick opening bowling from Templeman and tall McAdam soon had openers Amies and Register on the back foot. The ball beat the bat time and again, until finally McAdam had Amies (1) well snaffled by Smith at third slip.

Wickets proceeded to fall at regular intervals with McAdam bowling a consistently awkward line and length, which accounted for Bidewell (2) with the score on 23.

Some good support bowling from the evergreen Evan Tuck removed Register (6) and Sam Kimber (11) thanks to smart catches from Mark Spillett and Jon Lloyd respecitvely.

When former Lobster Peter Abbs fell thanks to a good catch from David King at backward point for eight, Bradfield were floundering at 47-5.

Some serious application was required where others before had lacked such patience, and big-hitting David Yarham had to battle hard in order to pull his side out of their slump.

In attempting to rebuild with Whitehouse, the

pair frustrated McAdam and the returning Templeman (1-17) with some well-judged leaves and sensible running.

However, McAdam, in his final over, finally broke their 24 run stand with the score on 71 and it didn't take long for Sheringham to wrap up the rest of the innings.

Skipper Wright (3-12) replaced the outstanding McAdam (3-35) to remove Robinson, Reynolds and Whitehouse in quick succession in between James Moy bowling Yarham for 14 to complete the innings with Bradfield recording a paltry 88 all out.

Having seen the opposition struggle to their low total, Sheringham knew that a positive yet sensible approach was needed in order to ensure victory was achieved.

New opening pair Dexter Smith and David King set about this task with some sumptuous stroke play aided by some wayward bowling.

Bradfield knew they had to take wickets to stand any chance of getting back in the game, however the opening pair ensured that they didn't give the opposition a sniff of a chance.

Robinson (0-25), Whitehouse (0-26) and Robertson (0-24) all conceded regular boundaries as the Sheringham batsmen played shots all around the wicket.

Only Yarham (0-16) exerted any sort of real control as Sheringham comfortably reached their target without losing a wicket.

A resounding victory was warmly greeted on the sidelines as Smith (44no) and King (39no) finished the game off, Smith belting a fabulous off-drive to seal victory.

The Lobsters are now fifth in the table and travel to Ingham to play Norwich A this Saturday where they will be looking to make it three out of three in pursuit of safety in Norfolk Alliance Division One for yet another season.
