SHERINGHAM travelled to Stow in Norfolk Alliance Division One. and after scoring just 146, bowled Stow out for 103 inside just 33 overs resulting in a superb 45 run win.

In a terrific bowling effort from Sheringham, Wright finished with 4-33 from his 13 overs and Tuck picked up 4-31 to orchestrate a superb win for the Lobsters.

It wouldn't have happened without a much-improved fielding display to back up the theory 'catches win matches'.

Next up a tough test at home to high-flying Swardeston A.

Sheringham captain J Wright lost what looked an important toss on a damp wicket and was asked to bat first.

Openers M Hudson (5) and M Spillett set about seeing off the new ball in tricky conditions, Hudson (5) the first to go with the score just 16.

Scoring continued to be slow progress, J Moy (10), joining Spillett before departing in the 24th over at 46-2.

Spillett continued to dig in, joined by Wright, before falling for a hard-earned 35 in the 30th over. The score had been restricted to 68, but with wickets in hand Wright was met by the in-form J Hall and the pair began to accelerate the scoring rate and 55 was added in 12 overs. At 122 from 41 overs, Sheringham looked on course for around 180.

However, Wright (29) and Hall (25) fell in successive overs, quickly followed by A Spillett and S Hudson, both without scoring.

Sheringham had collapsed to 134-7, J Lloyd (6) and E Tuck (4) the next to go. The last wicket pair of G Youngs (8) and C Moy (4 no) did their best to bat out the 50 overs and pick up another batting point but Youngs edged behind in the 49th over, Sheringham all out for 148. The collapse saw seven wickets fall for 25 runs in eight overs.

At tea the home side seemed confident of comfortably completing a routine win and despite E Tuck striking with his third ball in the third over the confidence seemed well placed with the score racing to 33-1 after five.

Tuck was bowling in tandem with J Wright and there followed a remarkable display of bowling and fielding which left Stow in complete disarray.

Wright's change of ends brought an immediate success and then when Tuck struck again, with help from M Spillett at slip, Stow were 47-3.

The home side continued to play their shots on a slow, low track and Sheringham's bowlers' impressive control continued to pay dividends.

When opener Renny (19) skied a pull off Tuck into the deep, Wright made ground well and held a good catch.

Wright caused more damage with the ball, a stunning reaction catch by J Hall at silly mid on bagging one wicket, before, in his following over, Wright snaffled a brilliant return catch, leaving Stow reeling on 64-6.

Worse was to come for the home side, the pressure telling on Malik (11) as he holed out to M Hudson at extra cover off the bowling of Wright. Tuck was at it again in the next over, Stow 69-8 and staring down the barrel.

Stow's ninth-wicket pair dug in. To a combination of attacking fields and decent stroke play they saw off the deadly duo of Wright and Tuck. They had added 31 and progressed the score to 102 before J Moy (1-13) picked up a timely breakthrough in his second over.

His brother C Moy, clinched victory, courtesy of another superb catch, a second for Spillett at slip.
