Sheringham 2, North Walsham Town 0

North Walsham returned to Weybourne Road to face Sheringham in cup action but were unable to match their success earlier in the month.

The Angels again took the chance to rotate their squad and provided starts to Wheeler and Cini, with James Marsh joining Grand and Abbs on the bench. Davis was again rested whilst Broom and Rob Marsh were on reserve team duty. Joint manager Chase was also absent but still had some rallying words for the squad.

There was very little action of note during the majority of the first half with the home side having more of the possession, but Town's tactics to frustrate their opponents was working.

Despite being on top, Sheringham didn't really threaten Murphy in the Town goal. At the other end, last week's hero Patterson was being well marshalled by the Shannocks' defence.

The half-time team talk plans were then ruined in time added on with the award of a Sheringham penalty. Davison was adjudged to have tugged at his opponent, referee Nield decided the offence occurred inside the area and Mallett fired the resulting penalty home.

The early periods of the second half saw Town look far more dangerous and they really should've grabbed the equaliser.

Davison broke clear but saw his effort smack the bar. The same player was then just unable to get over a header from Sage's cross, before Patterson failed to connect properly with Cini's centre.

The home side got back into the game and Murphy's goal led a charmed life. Graver wasted a good chance as he capitalised on Muir's error and The Shannocks height was causing Town issues from set-pieces.

Town made their first change with Abbs replacing Davies, who was struggling with a knock, but The Angels' hopes suffered a further setback on 75 minutes.

Davison mis-timed his challenge under the referee's nose and was duly cautioned for a second time and ordered off.

Town immediately made changes with Marsh and Grand replacing Dunlop and Cini. But when ex-Angel Maxey caused Murphy to fumble, Abbs fired home.

The Angels then seemed to resign themselves to defeat.

The squad approach two important home league encounters, against St Andrews and Kirkley & Pakefield Reserves.

Town have added Darren Miller to their squad, thanks to Sheringham's co-operation, whilst attempts to further strengthen have been rebuffed due to financial demands.

The Norfolk Senior Cup draw has paired the Angels with Ridgeons Premier Norwich United.

In a disappointing weekend the reserves travelled to Bungay, missed chances and exited the cup by the solitary goal.

The A team lost by the odd goal in seven at Briston and the Sunday side were comprehensively beaten 5-0 by league leaders Reepham Town. The Sunday side host Rollesby United in the Sunday Senior Cup on November 21.
