North Walsham Junior School cricket team is going forward to the Norfolk Area competition after winning the North Norfolk School Sports Partnership Kwik Cricket competition.

They played against Stalham, Cromer, Worstead and two Mundesley school teams, winning all their five matches - in the case of Mundesley A by one run - in an exciting afternoon's cricket.

The team, consisting of Year 4, 5 and 6 boys, played some excellent cricket using a range of skills and tactics, with some very good running for quick singles.

Graham Hinton and Jacob Black hit fours and sixes in each match and took a number of wickets. Great catches were taken by Ian Clarke and Charlie Everson in a superb team fielding performance.

Sports co-ordinator Kathy Warren, said: “Cricket is a popular sport at NWJS, with coach Karl Wiseman from Bradfield Cricket Club coming in regularly to work with Year 5 and 6 pupils, and it is good to have opportunities like this to play games.”
