Holt United lost their senior status in the Anglian Combination on Saturday without kicking a ball in anger.

The Owls, who have been struggling all season near the foot of Division One, were without a game on Saturday and needed a favour from elsewhere to stand any chance of avoiding the drop.

But sadly they didn't get it as fellow strugglers Dersingham managed to come away from Attleborough Town with an excellent 2-2 draw to condemn their rivals to the drop.

Brad Rivett and Jack Flynn scored for Attleborough while Josh Hazell and James Winner were on target for Rovers to take them four points above Holt, with each team having one game left to play.

Holt's final match is at Scole on Saturday and whatever happens in that one they will now drop into Division Two next season, having only narrowly avoided relegation last year.

With Aylsham and Sheringham having completed their fixtures the only other local side in action in the second flight on Saturday were North Walsham Town and their mixed end to the campaign continued as they went down 3-1 at Mundford.

A goal from Dale Wilton was the only consolation for the Angels as efforts from Adam Leamon, Oliver Standley and Ben Coe earned the hosts the points.

North Walsham, who will finish either sixth or seventh in the Division One table, still have two more fixtures to play, both of them at Greens Road. They host Loddon on Saturday and then take on Attleborough the following weekend.

In the Premier Division Laurence Cheese scored two more goals as Stalham Town shared the spoils with St Andrew's in a 2-2 draw - a good result against a side who went on to inflict a first defeat of the season on leaders Spixworth on Easter Monday. Sam Harty and Przemyslaw Ptak were on target for the hosts.

The draw left Stalham 10th in the table ahead of a home encounter with desposed champions Acle United on Saturday. They are in home action again next Wednesday evening, with Reepham the visitors.

Bottom team Cromer Town were without a game on Saturday but were due to return to action on Wednesday evening against Caister at Cabbell Park.

Still on zero points for the campaign, yhey have a testing trip to second placed Harleston on Saturday before a return match at Caister on Wednesday.

Their final match of the season is a return match with Harleston, which could have a big bearing on the title race, on Wednesday, May 3.
