Sheringham continued their impressive start to the season with an emphatic win over a Mundford side who started the day in third place of the Norfolk Alliance Division Two League.

Sheringham batted first and A Jenkins (0) fell in the first over.

J Taylor and Ravi Pushpakumara dug in, but Taylor's departure was followed by C Carey (4) and all of a sudden Sheringham were back under a bit of pressure at 59-3 off 26 overs.

With 150 appearing to be a decent score, stand in skipper Chris Sutton joined Pushpakumara at the crease and the pair set about increasing the run rate.

Sheringham were by now on top, Sutton particularly impressive in racing to 50, just after Pushpakumara.

Sutton (56) departed to end a partnership of 90 in 15 overs, with a score of 145-4 after 41, with Pushpakumara now on 60.

Then the Sri Lankan destroyed the Mundford attack and took the game away from the visitors, himself contributing 73 in the final five overs as Sheringham charged to 225-6.

Pushpakumara blasted ten fours and nine sixes, completing his first century of the season, finishing on 133 not out.

In reply Mundford got off to a steady start. An up in the run rate was needed with the score on 15 off 10 overs and this soon brought about a tumble of wickets.

Pushpakumara struck twice in quick succession, before change bowlers E Tuck and S Smith both had success in their first overs.

Mundford collapsed to 25-6 off 20 overs and once Tuck took the seventh wicket with the score on 44, Mundford were soon bowled out for 59 in the 31st over.

Sheringham entertain third-placed Saham Toney (1.30pm) this Saturday in another big game at the top of Norfolk Alliance Division Two.
