Holt United (12th) faced Horsford United (8th) in Anglian Combination First Division League action. Holt was coming off a convincing win over Long Stratton and were looking to continue the festive feeling. Last week Holt was able to secure the services of ex- Sheringham player manager Ben Price. Ben gives Holt a much needed experienced player in the middle of the park to complement some of the developing young talent.

The match started a little sloppily and neither team was able to hold possession. After approximately 25 minutes Holt conceded due to some sloppy defending. It was a wake up call for Holt as Sam Morgan came off with an injury and sub Josh Clarke came in on the right. Shortly after his arrival he put a beautiful ball through to the surging Chris Fuller who was brought down inside the box and the penalty was given. Chris Fuller calmly took the penalty to even up the tally. Holt began to assert themselves on the match and began to hold possession. Shortly before half Chris Fuller again was pulled down just outside the box. Fuller then used Beckham-like skill and put in a curving ball around the wall past the diving Horsford Keeper. Holy went in at the halve with a 2-1 lead.

Holt came out after halftime determined to take control of the match. Holt took their lead to 3-1 when Josh Clark put another 30 yard through ball to Chris Fuller who broke free and dinked it past the keeper giving him his first hat trick of the season and his seventh goal in 3 weeks. Holt sealed the win shortly after with a powerful deflected free kick from 30 yards out from the foot of Matt Sanders. Horsford began to throw players forward and was able to nick a second goal to make the scoreline look a bit more respectable.

We were proud of the lads as we didn't start well and were a bit out of sorts. They didn't let their heads down and took control of the match. The man of the match was Chris Fuller with his hat trick. Josh Clark put in a great performance off the bench and Ben Price took control of the midfield when we needed some composure. Gavin Neale put in another solid perfromance. We are a bit dissappointed going into the Christmas break as we want to continue the run. We have organised a friendly with Cromer Town at Holt Sport Centre 29/12/12 at 2pm. Holt's next leahue match is away at Hindringham on 5/1/12.
