Points relief for Yachtsmen

Wroxham 3, Walsham-le-Willows 0

WROXHAM earned three badly-needed Ridgeons Premier Division points on Tuesday night. It was not the best of games but they can be pleased with a job well done.

A cross-field ball from Self set Claudio Langlois free to use his speed to lose his marker, beat two defenders and fire the ball past the diving keeper.

A long pass found Damian Hilton in the middle of the Walsham half with one defender by him. In classic Hilton style, he trapped the ball, turned round the marker and shot – all in one movement – and the ball went straight into the net, giving McAnally no chance at all.

The half looked like ending 2-0 when another great pass to Langlois gave him room to run and he again beat two defenders with his pace, and placed the ball in the bottom corner.

The second half started with an attack from Walsham as Johnson hit a fierce shot which rebounded off the bar and was collected by Scott Howie, who later stopped a free-kick from Newman from just inside the Wroxham half and then made a very good save from Holder.

Histon Reserves 2, Wroxham 1

Following on from the FA Cup exit at Ely, Wroxham suffered another confidence blow, on Saturday, losing to a very young Histon side. They had only themselves to blame after taking the lead through Paul Cook but then missing several chances.

Wroxham hit a post, had one 'goal' ruled out for offside and one controversially cleared off the line when it had appeared to have gone over. Histon fought back but the Yachtsmen were better. However, they paid for not taking their chances when Histon scored from a quick break then added the winner. Scott Howie pulled off some good saves.

Wroxham missed so many clear chances.
