Holt United are through to the quarter-finals of the Norfolk Senior Cup following Tuesday night's 2-0 home win over Hindringham after Saturday's attempt to play was thwarted by the weather.

The Owls go into the hat for tomorrow (Friday) night's live draw on Radio Norfolk in the sports programme that starts at 6.30pm.

Definitely with them are holders Wroxham, Gorleston, Acle United, Dereham Town, Thetford. Still to be decided are the Fakenham Town v Loddon United and Norwich United v King's Lynn Reserves ties which were again postponed Tuesday night.

Acle of the Anglian Combination Premier Division produced the shock of the fourth round Tuesday night by knocking out Ridgeons League Division One high-flyers Great Yarmouth 2-1 on their own ground.

Two Ben Morgan penalties, the second coming in the dying moments of extra-time, gave victory after the Bloaters had led through a Dominic Smith strike just before half-time.

Morgan's first penalty made it 1-1 on 70 minutes before a handball in extra-time allowed Morgan to step up and put Acle through in the final seconds.

That means, with the luck of the draw, there is still scope for at least one Anglian Combination side to follow in Sheringham's footsteps of last season and make the Carrow Road final.

Sheringham lost 3-1 at home to Ridgeons side Thetford Town on Saturday and Wroxham beat Sprowston Athletic 3-0 on Friday (reports on back page.)
