North Walsham Raiders made progress in the Norfolk Bowl with a resounding 96-5 win over Norwich Medics II at Scottow.

Having beaten Medics' first team quite easily in the league this game looked on paper to be an easy stepping stone to the next round and so it transpired as the well drilled Raiders dominated throughout, running in eight tries in the first half to lead 50-0 at the break.

Knowing that this could well be a routine win coach Johnny Marsters was adamant that the side should stick to structures worked out on the training pitch and build from set-pieces and restarts. That this plan was to be followed was instantly obvious as the opening minutes were filled with multiple phases before a quickly taken penalty was converted into five points by wing Michael Mulhall.

Patience was key and when a forward was stopped just short skipper George Rossi was on hand to dive over and Ted Morgan kicked the first of five conversions.

Medics tried hard to stem the tide but had no answer to the well drilled Raiders who piled on the points as tries by Henry Hunt, Will Quinn and Aaron Beaumont, all converted, took the lead to 35 points with barely 25 minutes on the clock. The first change saw the vastly experienced Tom Coller make way for Charles Larner, one of last season's Colts, to give the youngster a decent run.

The final 10 minutes of the half saw two players complete a double as left wing Greg Wills weaved his way down the left flank outpacing the defence twice and Mulhall won a kick chase to score on the right.

Early in the second half prop Aaron Beaumont limped off with an ankle injury but the pack remained dominant. Morgan stretched the lead after five minutes but Medics got their only points with a try from a penalty line-out. As Medics tired so the Raiders stepped up the pressure and flanker Will Haynes put his name on the scorecard.

Outside centre Henry Hunt, improving by the week, finished of some good handling and Haynes touched down for his second.

Mulhall completed a hat-trick and straight from the restart outside half Ben Rossi, making his senior debut after three seasons away, broke clear to score but it was two of the hard working forwards, Liam Clarke and Seb Roberts, who finished the scoring.
